Job Description

The Senior System Support Specialist delivers uninterrupted high performance network backbone and infrastructure that allows Emerald Associates to perform at a very high benchmark for their clients. The individual should be highly proficient in network topology, database setup & maintenance, procedure based operations methodology. The individual should also possess the skills to train individuals to perform and maintain Emerald’s infrastructure. The individual should be able to implement a new technology in short timeframes leveraging already developed methodologies. Emerald is a company in growth mode and currently requires to high performer that will provide the IT foundation in the form of design and execution.

Responsibilities

Daily:

  • Plan and Prioritize activities
  • Update management team of any major issues
  • Execute task and oversee others
  • Internal IT support
  • Client support/install requests
  • Internal IT monitoring

Weekly:

  • Management status meeting
  • Timesheet and approvals
  • IT enhancements

Monthly:

  • Review vendor bills
  • Review project performance
  • Brainstorm on how to improve
  • Check billing if needed
  • Verify backups
  • E-mail archive maintenance
  • Monitor accounts
  • User improvement communication organized with OPS group
  • Policy auditing
  • Major Issues review with Management
  • Overdue tickets and reasoning

Quarterly:

  • Maintain hardware
  • Staff reviews
  • Innovative project direction
  • Update and Review processes and procedures
  • Review VMWare usage
  • Management Powerpoint

Annually:

  • Review and recommend technologies and improvements
  • Review current service providers (ISP/Telecom)
  • Staff reviews and recommendations
  • Budget development due by June 1
  • Presentation of budget in the form or Powerpoint to Management

Internal:

  • Maintenance and negotiation with current vendors
  • Negotiate with new vendors to bring value to Emerald
  • Report progress
  • Network backbone and infrastructure
  • New project initiates
  • Software upgrades
  • New technology
  • Vendor changes
  • Client Issues
  • Client potential lead development
  • Design and implement service level improvements
  • Create and maintain backbone for Emerald’s growth in the form of Set up and maintain company networks, enhance network performance
  • Maintain and design ticketing system
  • Set up and maintain network and desktop security on all staff’s and training computers
  • Maintain software versions and support all desktop applications
  • Support internal reporting and form development requirements
  • Maintain and enhance Emerald’s website
  • Setup and support web-commerce add-ons as required
  • Maintain organized records and documentation on all changes, improvements etc.
  • Monitor and assess cost efficiency of current IT/telecom solutions and research other options and make recommendations as required

External:

  • Install, set up and maintain clients’ computers in varied environments
  • Set up and maintain training computers as required

 

Education

  • College diploma or university degree

  • Senior level - VMWare
  • Senior level - Oracle DB
  • MS Active Directory and Policy design and implementation experience
