Oracle Primavera Cloud - A High Level Preview of Project Scope

In Oracle Primavera Cloud (formerly Oracle Prime), you can create and track scope items, work packages, and WBS elements.

If you’re not using the default PBS structure, you can set up a custom PBS structure. The PBS structure commonly reflects a hierarchical structure of the components required for a project. You can use a PBS in initial planning to organize scope items.

The screenshot above is not a complete PBS, just food for thought. Once the PBS is created, you can enter further breakdown details in Scope Items.

The screenshot below is just a partial list of potential scope items. In real life, you’d create various scope items to cover all requirements of the project. Each scope item can be assigned the applicable unit of measure along with all applicable associated information.

Enter your Work Packages in the Work Packages screen to complete the Scope Items. If the WBS has already been created, Work Packages can be assigned to an applicable WBS element using a column or the General Tab in the Work Packages screen.

These work packages can be assigned to applicable scope items using the Scope Assignments screen.

Once Scope assignments are completed, you can see cross references to each scope item in the Scope Items screen.

Costs can be included and tracked in the Scope Items as well. (the above short example does not include cost.)

In the WBS screen, you can create the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and add Work Packages to cover the scope of work for the project. Work Packages can be added from the WBS screen or from the Work Packages screen.

The WBS element and Work package can be assigned to the applicable activities in the schedule. This connection is displayed in the Activities window using the activity general tab.

The PBS elements, Scope items, WBS elements, and work packages have upload templates available to upload item information from Excel. Templates for each of these elements are available for download in the applicable windows.
