Turnarounds have unique project challenges. Ensuring that prior to the Turnaround the team plans the work and during the turnaround the team works the plan is essential. Primavera P6 provides the capability and flexibility required to create and maintain the scheduling piece of the execution plan. 

Don’t get the idea that by doing this you will never have to put together any mitigation plans during the turnaround…..that Murphy fellow is always glad to appear on the scene! When you have ensured a thorough plan is in place before the start of the Turnaround, you have equipped yourself with the ability to create any mitigation requirements quickly and easily, and with comparison completed informed decisions can be made. 

Your execution plan for a turnaround includes a fully integrated, resource loaded schedule. Primavera P6 provides the capability and flexibility to create the integrated, resource loaded schedule for the turnaround. Prior to the turnaround, create-review-revise as many times as necessary to complete a workable and comprehensive schedule. Baseline the schedule once agreed. This provides tracking and trending capability during the turnaround. During turnaround the schedule should be thoroughly updated at regular intervals. Progress needs to be conveyed back to all members of the team as well as to management. From the schedule updates the execution team can monitor progress and has the required information to act on any negative trending proactively. Within the software, status updates can be easily incorporated either with manual data entry or via bar coded updates which are available through Emerald Associates. Bar coding updates streamlines the update process and reduces data entry errors. During a turnaround you have a large amount of data moving in and out of the schedule so streamlining the process where possible is very valuable.
