We Caught Another Primavera P6 Bug
Bug 17904646 : DATA NOT REFRESHING FOR MULTIPLE USERS AFTER CHANGES COMMITTED TO DATABASE
One of our consultants who is currently loading large amounts of P6 data using Emerald’s P6 Loader came to me with a concern that there is sometimes a lag between loading information using our P6 Loader (via the API’s) and it appearing in P6, even if he repeatedly pressed the F5 (Refresh) key. The lag could be minutes or hours depending on the situation.
In attempting to resolve the issue, we checked all the common issues, such as whether the data was actually hitting the database (it was), whether the system was configured with grants to allow proper refresh performance (it was). It appeared that there was no reason for the lag to occur.
Then we checked the Oracle knowledgebase for the symptoms shown and we discovered that there is a known bug with P6 8.x that causes Refresh to not work correctly. The bug is covered under Oracle article: Bug 17904646 : DATA NOT REFRESHING FOR MULTIPLE USERS AFTER CHANGES COMMITTED TO DATABASE.
If you are using 8.x and refresh is not working for you, try closing and re-opening the project to get the changes to appear properly.
