Oracle JD Edwards to Primavera P6 Integration

Problem

How to get important fabrication information from our client's financial work order system (stored in JD Edwards) into a project-related scheduling system (stored in Primavera) quickly and efficiently since thousands of records existed. In particular, they required a way of relating Work Order related information stored in JD Edwards to tasks and resources in Primavera to allow for tracking of project-related progress against actual costs.

Solution

Emerald Associates developed an integration application that would retrieve data exported from JD Edwards and then create a new project in Primavera based on a pre-defined project template. Work Order Numbers in JD Edwards would then be matched against Activities in the newly created Primavera project and important financial data from the export fields would be placed into corresponding User-Defined Fields (UDF) and Activity codes in Primavera for each Activity.

ROI

Automation of this data flow eliminated the requirement for users to manually enter data pertaining to JDE Work Orders into Primavera – therefore improving efficiency and reducing the total cost that would be brought about by errors in manual input. It also reduces the cost of communication overhead as project and finance personnel can more easily track costs against the progress of a project and easily identify causes for discrepancies between the two areas. It also leverages the usage of Primavera allowing the corporation to take full advantage of its various features and thus fully reap the benefits of having Primavera as their project management system.

Emerald’s Experience

Emerald has integrated Primavera P6 to numerous enterprise work management systems including JD Edwards, Maximo, Indus PassPort and SAP.
