Primavera P6 Timesheet -> QuickBooks

Emerald Associates created an integration tool that loads timesheets created in Primavera P6 into the timesheets in QuickBooks®. This tool uses the project, project codes, project status, tasks, resources and roles to load billable, non-billable and overhead tasks into QuickBooks without any recoding. It also ties the role to the accounting items to match bill-out rates for different skill levels and client rates. This has saved Emerald hundreds of hours a year of data entry into QuickBooks® while allowing our project managers to have quicker access to weekly timesheets to status their projects and for client reporting.

Users

  • Anyone who uses Primavera Timesheets and QuickBooks and wants to streamline the loading of actual information.
  • Emerald has also worked with loading Primavera Timesheets into Oracle and SAP.

ARTEMIS to Primavera P6 Integration

Problem

A customer identified a gap with their current technology, which did not fit their business requirements. To fill this gap, a migration to Primavera P6 was chosen. What was most important to the client was that the asset of historical data, which had been built up over the years through much experience in maintenance and turnaround, could not be lost because the cost would have been too high.

Solution

The solution developed by Emerald Associates was to implement Primavera P6 to fulfill the business requirements identified. To maintain the historical data, Emerald migrated the historical job plans directly into Primavera P3/P6 and created a turnaround Primavera P3/P6 training that paralleled the Artemis training, allowing for previous data to be retained and the previous learning model to be used, lessening the overall learning curve.

ROI

To make things much more simpler for our client, the “planning hours X the number of job plans” was easily converted, making things a lot easier to read and eliminating human data entry errors, which resulted in “no plan execution delays X the number of job plans converted.”

Emerald’s Experience

Emerald has used this tool to convert 500 ARTEMIS® projects to Primavera P3/P6 at Suncor Energy.

IMMPOWER to Primavera P6

Problem

IMMPOWER is a strong EAM tool, but many large organizations want a more enterprise streamlined approach to project planning. When your organization wants to migrate to Primavera P6, many plants are afraid that key historical data will be lost in the transition. The data in IMMPOWER will need to be migrated into the new software efficiently and accurately, without manual entries.

Solution

Emerald Associates developed a conversion program that enables automatic migration of historical job plans from IMMPOWER into Primavera P6. The client simply sends their IMMPOWER files to Emerald, and we use the conversion tool to migrate data into Primavera P6. This includes conversion of all the libraries, projects and reports. The conversion program remaps the ADM (Arrow Diagramming Method) to PDM (Precedence Diagramming Method), creates resources, codes, etc. We then review the conversion log and validate the results of the conversion. Finally, the projects are sent to the client in the Primavera P6 format, ready to be imported.

Additionally, Emerald has created customized turnaround training that explains the similarities and differences between IMMPOWER and P6. This helps employees to become familiar with Primavera P6 faster. Another important benefit is that all the logic is migrated to Primavera P6 accurately.

Emerald’s Experience

Emerald has converted over 250 IMMPOWER projects from 10 plants around the world. Our typical turnaround time is less than three days per project once some initial setup in P6 is achieved.

Jacobs' CASP and Primavera P6 Integration

Problem

Jacobs CASP (Computer Assisted Scheduling and Planning) software was being used by many businesses for Turnaround planning. As the software was being discontinued by the vendor, this left many businesses looking for a new turnaround management software solution. After purchasing and implementing Primavera P6, the leading scheduling and planning solution, companies had the need to efficiently and accurately migrate their data in the CASP system to P6 without the manual entries. Below are the fundamentally different approaches in the two software packages:

CASP ApproachPrimavera P6 Approach
Equipment Focus Schedule/ WBS Focus
CMMS Background Construction Background
ADM Scheduling PDM Scheduling
Dbase II Database Oracle Database
