Merging UDFs Without Losing Values with P6-Loader

One of the most challenging things you can run across when administering data in your Primavera P6 environment is multiple User Defined Fields (UDFs) that have been created for the same information. This often occurs when users are working on projects that need a particular piece of information and don’t realize there is a UDF already created for another project for the same information. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to merge those duplicate UDFs without losing the data already in them?
P6-Loader will actually do that with a few key strokes on your keyboard. Copy the UDF names to be combined into the Source UDF Type column on the UDF Type Merge worksheet, define the subject area of the UDFs (UDFs may be combined even if they are in different subject areas) and provide a name the UDFs will be combined under. A new name may be chosen or you can use the name of one of the source UDFs. You can also decide if you want to delete or keep the original UDFs after they are merged by typing true or false in the final column.

Save and load the sheet with P6-Loader, and it will take care of the rest by combining the two UDFs and maintaining the values in the projects where they were used.
