This large IT program had many moving parts and the team needed a way to ensure all the projects within the programs were being managed consistently to meet very tight timelines.

This technology upgrade was done at one of the largest and most respected construction services companies in Canada.

Challenges

  • The team was running three separate databases, addressing user access and P6 maintenance in each.

  • Their IT department had on their list, along with numerous other responsibilities, addressing P6 maintenance.

Results

  • The cloud option allowed them to easily consolidate three P6 databases into one. What were three separate databases now run from one database and all users are assigned the security profile applicable for the projects they look after.

  • P6 maintenance is addressed in the Cloud; their IT no longer needs to worry about maintaining it.

Oracle Fusion Cloud to P6 Integration

Efficient project management and budget updates made possible through synchronization of project data, estimates, tasks, resources, expenses, and forecasting.



Projects created in Oracle Fusion and integrated with project estimates and tasks from P6 on-premise using Oracle Fusion API and EAI P6 Cloud API. Actual resources and expenses costs sent from Oracle Fusion into P6 and P6 forecasting sent into Oracle Fusion. Both project and ledger currencies managed, as well as hours for labour and equipment resources.
  • WBS - create/update/summarize and consolidate and rollup
  • Tasks - managed in P6 with durations and logic - integrated to fusion for billing and charging against
  • Resources - auto-create any new resources labour, materials, and equipment that are assigned within Oracle Fusion Resource Assignments - create and update resource assignments including percent complete forecasting to allow resource management and estimate accountability
  • Expenses - create/update expenses including percent complete forecasting
  • P6 → Oracle Fusion - allow revising the budget in P6 and updating the Fusion budget automatically.
  • P6 → Oracle Fusion - allow all progress updating and forecasting of physical percent complete, units percent complete and start and finish dates to be managed and overwritten in P6
