Introducing CAPPS Version 15.0. Highlights include updating activities and steps directly inside of any crosstab, rescheduling work in the Gantt chart, new heat maps, visualization profiles, and the addition of baselines. Behind the scenes, we've added activity cancellation, explicit finalization, and a new two-stage review-and-approval workflow, as well as smarter filtering and performance improvements. Finally, you can also QA your projects and Audit the update submissions and approvals with this new release.

New Features

  • Editable Crosstabs - Crosstabs are no longer just for viewing. Project managers can now update activities directly from any crosstab mode - progress, status, heat map, or activity code - by clicking a cell to open an update dialog. A new step-update mode lets you progress individual activity steps inline, and cells containing several activities or steps open a single batch dialog so you can update many of them at once with quick-set percentage presets.

  • Activity Code Heat Maps - Instantly colour-code your crosstab by any activity code, using the colours already defined in your schedule, to visually group and identify work by department, phase, or responsibility. New urgency heat maps highlight how soon activities are due - including a day-level "Days Until Start" view tuned for fast-moving turnaround and shutdown schedules.

  • Baseline Comparison - See how your current schedule is tracking against the plan without ever leaving CAPPS. A new baseline bar appears beneath each activity on the Gantt chart, and new Baseline Start and Baseline Finish columns bring the same comparison into your activity grid, making slippage easy to spot at a glance.

  • Editable Gantt Chart - The Gantt chart is now fully interactive. Drag an activity's bar to reschedule it, edit planned and baseline dates, and assign primary resources right from the timeline. Every change flows through the standard approval process, so scheduling and updating can now happen in the view that makes the most sense to you.

  • Visualization Profiles - Save your favorite working setups - including layouts, columns, filters, and chart settings - as named visualization profiles, then switch between them instantly. Keep a "Resource View," a "Progress View," and an "Executive Summary" at your fingertips and move between perspectives with a single click instead of reconfiguring every time.

  • Two-Stage Review and Approval - Add an extra layer of confidence to your updates with a configurable two-stage workflow. Submitted activities can now be routed first to a reviewer and then to an approver, with a clear audit trail of who reviewed and approved each change - giving your organization true separation of duties when it matters.

  • Activity Cancellation and Finalization - Cancel scheduled activities directly in CAPPS, automatically cleaning up their resources, steps, and expenses, instead of editing the source schedule by hand. With explicit finalization, approved activities stay visible until someone deliberately marks them complete, adding a safety checkpoint before work leaves the active workflow.

Enhancements

  • Smarter Filtering and Project Selection - Project filtering now matches the power of activity filtering: filter your portfolio by activity code, custom fields, and date ranges, and use hierarchical codes to select entire phases or vendor groups at once. The project selection tree is now a true include/exclude tree, so you can pick a whole branch and then exclude just the projects you don't want.

  • Activity Start Date Crosstab - A new crosstab view organizes your activities by their start date, with a column for each day in the project timeline. It's a perfect companion to the existing activity code and WBS views for day-by-day look-ahead planning.

  • Multi-Activity Crosstab Cells - When several activities share the same cell, CAPPS now shows all of them instead of hiding all but one. Choose a compact view with a count badge or an expanded view that lists each activity, so nothing is ever lost from sight - and everything is included when you export to Excel.

  • Resource Histogram - A new resource histogram shows how your resources are allocated over time, making it easy to see workload peaks and support capacity planning right alongside your schedule.

  • Legend Filtering - Every crosstab legend now doubles as a filter. Click to hide or show any category - such as progress state, heat map band, or activity code - and use a single show-all/hide-all toggle to focus on exactly the work you care about, with a clear indicator whenever a filter is active.

  • Faster Large-Portfolio Performance - Behind-the-scenes loading improvements deliver noticeably faster page loads for teams working with hundreds of projects, keeping CAPPS responsive as your portfolio grows.

  • Unsaved-Changes Visibility - Edited rows now display a clear indicator showing they have pending changes, and you can open a simple side-by-side summary of exactly what changed - old value versus new value - before you submit, reducing surprises and accidental edits.
