Our latest version of P6-Auditor has a new look and feel making auditing definitions easier and faster to build.
New audits - UDF value, project, activity and code assignments
Users can be configured into categories. For example, P6-Internal, Standard, API, or by department, or by whichever criteria is needed. The User Category column is shown in all reports where there is a user column, and it is possible to filter by it.
It is possible to configure UDFs and code changes to be reported with the corresponding project, activity or resource record
Added the ability to easily limit the range of events retrieved from the server - for example, for the past 5 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.
UI changes - the reports are now all shown on the left side of the auditor web application and are grouped by type/subject leaving more space for the reports on the right side of the page
The EPS auditing now includes changes made to all records in the PROJWBS table, and it includes a column that shows the type of object that was changed
Added the ability to freeze columns. You can freeze 1 to 5 columns and those will always be visible when scrolling.
All reports now run faster, and event reports run much faster than before
Filters have been improved - when possible, multiple options are shown for the user to select from
Reworked the OData implementation on the server, allowing much better control over the columns shown in the client, as well as other improvements
Layouts now work properly with audit reports
Column order that makes sense across all event reports
Profile improvement - the teams of a profile are shown in the profile list and a button that lets you save a profile directly is visible when a profile has changes

Client Moves Their Primavera P6 to the Emerald Cloud and Uses EAI Custom Tools
Client is and engineering and environmental consulting firm, that diversifies services to strengthen core competencies in complex, multidiscipline work. They are the largest Power Delivery detail designer in the US, Top 5 in Power (Generation + Power Delivery), have 10+ years as Top 10 Food & Beverage Engineering firm and are a Top 200 Environmental firm.
The client wanted to move their in-house Primavera P6 environment to a cloud option with full time support.
Internal IT was overloaded with other initiatives and lacked expertise in maintaining their Primavera P6 environment.
They required the ability to maintain and analyze their Primavera P6 data in an easy, reliable manner.
Their Primavera was moved to the Emerald hosting environment, which allowed Emerald to become their full time host and support model.
Emerald provides expertise in Primavera and provides complete support for their Primavera databases.
As part of Emerald hosting the environment, we also provide Emerald tools like P6-Loader to create and maintain data, P6-QA for schedule quality analysis, P6-Reporter for schedule reporting and P6-Auditor for monitoring the changes in their databases.

Learn how a client's P6 experience was improved with training, implementation, and EAI tools.
Client provides marine-related services to the Pacific Northwest. Within the group are three shipyards, an intermodal ferry and car float business, and also a tug and barge transportation company that serves both domestic and international markets.
With the implementation of an integrated PMO System, they requested assistance as to best practices in the usage of P6.
Needed a better scheduling and project management reporting process.
Needed to upgrade their Primavera P6 to a new version and clean up their database.
Emerald created additional databases in the hosted environment to add an archive and sandbox environment.
Emerald assisted with creation of a security structure to ease user access management.
Emerald worked with their team to address taking advantage of P6 coding, UDFs, and WBS structures for best reporting and EV results.
Emerald upgraded P6 and presented P6 training.
P6-Loader, P6-Auditor & EP-datawarehouse (now P6-Reporter) were added to the tools available to P6 users for enhanced functionality and efficiency.

In P6 we sometimes discover data anomalies that do not make sense and need to find out what happened. Emerald’s P6-Auditor tool provides an easy and quick way to investigate these anomalies. The P6-Auditor reads the data in the P6 audit tables in a spreadsheet format, making these tables much more legible and searchable.
Let’s take a look at how to go about finding what has happened to an activity code that is no longer in our project that once contained values for the activity code.

P6-Auditor helped a large oil company recover from P6 data loss
Client is a Canadian integrated energy company that specializes in the production of synthetic crude from the oil sands.
Resources and code dictionaries were being incorrectly modified in the P6 database
Projects were being removed from the database
EPS nodes were being moved out of place
Uncertainty about how their licenses were being allocated across multiple databases
Identify users who needed training and guidance on how to properly use P6
Focus training on users who needed it
Determine active users in P6 and license distribution
When a deletion of activity code types occurred, company was able to recover quickly from the data loss

Learn how Emerald's tools are enhancing this Engineering Consulting Company's use of P6
Written by Sue Hopkins
Power Engineers is a global consulting engineering firm that offers complete and multi-discipline engineering, architecture and program management services.
Power Engineers needed a way to easily administer multiple P6 databases and also update many projects on each update cycle.
Administration challenges were maintaining users and user profiles, and global data like activity codes.
On the updating side, updating actual costs and maintaining cross project relationships between contractor and owner schedules after each update cycle was really time consuming and error prone.
Administrators needed an effective way to view audit information in multiple databases for their large user base.
One administrator is able to handle all user and codes maintenance for 10+ databases.
P6-Loader allows the team to continue to cost load much more quickly each month.
Handling cross project relationships is much less error prone now after receiving XERs from contractors on each update; it is a simple extract logic, change the project reference and reload!
The project controls team is able to tackle problems that they could not prior.
P6-Auditor has allowed them to keep a finger on the pulse of their schedules and gives them a means for disaster recovery.
"P6-Loader enables me to do things that I wouldn't otherwise be able to do. It facilitates the ability to tackle problems that the infrastructure doesn't support. P6-Loader has been a quality and service enhancement."

Learn how a large engineering firm moved to the Emerald Cloud.
Written by Sue Hopkins
Client is an employee-owned multi-disciplined engineering, planning, architectural, and environmental services firm in the United States. With nearly 700 employees spread between more than 30 offices in 12 states, they offer a wide range of services with a focus on aviation, construction, facilities design, federal, power, transportation, survey, and water. They sit in the top 150 of the Engineering News-Record's prestigious Top 500 Design Firms list, while Zweig Group has recognized client as a best firm to work for in the multi-discipline category for six consecutive years.
Client was looking for an alternative to the Oracle Cloud for them and the Department of Transportation (DOT) they were working with.
The Program Controls manager wanted faster response time on support tickets for four databases.
Needed a reliable environment for 80+ DOT users to fulfill their contract commitments.
Moved hosting of four databases to the Emerald Cloud.
Decreased supported response time from days to hours
Able to bring their DOT client online with their environment in less than two months, including upgrade of P6 and rollout of new business processes.
Added a second DOT client to Emerald's hosting environment two years later.

P6-Auditor helps find users who made mistakes in P6
Written by Nicole Jardin
Large Electrical Utility with several P6 databases with internal and external scheduling teams needed a way to manage and report on functions inside P6.
With a large team of P6 users, it is hard to track down when projects are deleted
Ensuring that the EPS does not get changed when users are cutting and pasting projects was a challenge
When managing a resource pool of over 10 thousands crews, making sure your resource dictionary is maintained and coding kept up to date with more than one admin can be error prone
Tracing project deletes easily and rollbacks if required
Reporting on update frequencies - actual starts, actual finishes, and percent completes
Edits to the resource dictionary that were not expected including deletes and cut and pastes
Verifying changes to activity codes and who made them as well as when they were made
Tracing EPS moves that no user admitted to
Finding logic changes that should not have been made as well as task deletes
